Organizational Accountability

Unconscious gender bias* in the workplace remains a significant barrier to women’s career advancement, makes it harder for women to get hired and promoted, negatively impacts their day-to-day work experiences, and ultimately prevents organizations from achieving their full potential. Gender equality isn’t just about ethics - it makes companies more creative, more innovative, and more profitable.

*Unconscious gender bias is defined as unintentional and automatic mental associations based on gender, stemming from traditions, norms, values, culture and/or experience.

Common Bias Types

Likeability Bias

Maternal Bias

Performance Bias

Affinity Bias

Double Discrimination

Attribution Bias

Myth

In performance reviews all employees receive the same feedback on personal style such as “You can sometimes be abrasive."

Reality

66% of women receive this type of personal feedback while only 1% of men do.
